Richard Wurster


Inducted May 18, 1991

Richard was born August 27, 1942. He was a National Long Track Champion as a senior in 1965, 1966 and 1975, and runner-up in 1970 and 1971. He also won the titles of U. S. Open Long Track Champion in 1969 and 1970 and North American Long Track Champion in 1971 and 1975. During his career he set numerous national records at distances of 880 yards and longer. Richard was a member of the U.S. World team in 1965 and 1968 and the U.S. Olympic Team in 1968. He was inducted into the National Speedskating Hall of Fame on May 18, 1991 in Southgate, Michigan.
